Psychiatric Services for Adults

The Adult Psychiatric Program is designed to provide rapid stabilization in a carefully structured, safe, medically appropriate environment. The goal of Las Encinas Hospital is to establish appropriate support and tools within a full range of services, providing behaviorally defined therapeutic goals and programming that encompasses behavioral health services.

Intensive Treatment Services offers close supervision for patients who are in need of more structure, due to their medical or emotional status. Group activities, provided in a structured environment, are specific to the patient's individualized needs, either through a psychiatric track or dual diagnosis track (for patients who have psychiatric and chemical dependency issues). Individual therapy is provided as needed.

Benefits of Program:

  • Full schedule of groups, educational events and activities 7 days a week
  • Medical evaluation within 24 hours of admission
  • Multi-disciplinary treatment team approach with Psychiatrist, physician, adjunctive therapist, social workers; and, as needed, a chemical dependency counselor or dietician.
  • Addictionologist used for detoxification treatment protocol
  • One-year of free aftercare groups are offered weekly. The focus of the groups is to ease the transition from hospital to home, work, and social environment.
  • Family involvement is encouraged when possible

What can a patient expect from the Inpatient Treatment Programs?

  • Individual therapy
  • Patients receive four therapy groups per day, including psycho-education, chemical dependency, process, and recreational activity groups
  • Groups are facilitated by professional therapist, psychologist and chemical dependency counselors.
  • Families are encouraged to attend at least one, 45 minute family therapy session to address issues of immediate concern and plans for follow-up treatment
  • Family Therapy groups are also available three times a week.

The patients and their family can be in contact with various members of the treatment team. The team members and their roles are explained below.

  • And is available to answer specific questions or concerns that cannot be addressed by the case manager.

Treatment Team
We believe a team approach is the most effective method to deliver quality care. The treatment team is led by a psychiatrist and often includes a licensed therapist, psychiatric nurse, activity/recreational therapist, clinical social worker, and mental health counselors. The treatment team offers not only their clinical expertise and experience, but also their concern and compassion.
