About our Medical Service Director


Timothy Pylko, MD has been affiliated with Las Encinas Hospital for over 20 years. He developed the concept for the Two South service out of a desire to create a more personalized inpatient program. Dr. Pylko has been the Two South Medical Service Director since its inception in late 2007.

A native of Montreal, Canada, Dr. Pylko received his Bachelor of Science degree from McGill University and his Medical Degree from the University of Toronto. He completed his psychiatric residency at UCLA. In addition to his work at Las Encinas, he is in private practice as a partner with San Marino Psychiatric Associates.

Dr. Pylko is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences at the UCLA School of Medicine, and Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine, USC Keck School of Medicine.

Dr. Pylko embraces a bio-psycho-social-spiritual model of approaching patients and their families seeking help. His leadership of the Two South treatment team focuses on integrating various approaches to treatment in an environment that emphasizes service and comfort. As attending physician, or as service director in partnership with the patient’s admitting clinician, he is committed to providing care that emphasizes compassion and respect.

Dr. Pylko has been named a Super Doctor for 2010.  This is the second year in a row that Dr. Pylko has received this recognition from his colleagues.

Two South was created to address complex psychiatric disorders with or without co-occurring substance abuse. It was designed for those clients requiring an individualized treatment program while residing in the safety and comfort of a private setting with fine amenities.

Clinicians affiliated with Two South have expertise in a variety of evidence based specialized psychotherapies that include:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, EMDR, Interpersonal Social Rhythm Therapy,
Psychodynamic Therapy, Psychoanalysis, Psychosocial Rehabilitation and Community Reintegration Therapy.

Two South provides stabilization in a carefully structured, safe and medically appropriate environment. A customized treatment plan is developed for each patient that may include individually tailored psychotherapy based on the patient’s unique psychological diagnostic assessment, targeted symptoms and functional impairments.
Intensive treatment services offer close supervision for patients who are in need of more structure, due to their medical or emotional status.
